ConstructionMarket Overview: The current Construction market remains buoyant with significant levels of both Public and Private sector investment leading to us registering a record number of jobs with main contractors, specialist sub-contractors and building companies across the region. With a strong portfolio of commercial, civil, industrial, residential, retail, fit-out, education and design and build projects the demand for experienced Commercial and Construction staff remains at an all time high. East Anglia’s reputation as a key growth area outside of London can be clearly seen in the continuing range of projects that have been recently constructed and those currently going through tender and planning stages. These schemes include the Riverside development in Norwich, a new 335m hospital at Peterborough, the Cambridge Leisure Park, Grand Arcade and CB1 developments, the new harbour development at Ipswich and the proposed new Centre Parcs in Bedfordshire. East Anglian Contractors continue to mirror the national shortage across the UK for good quality professionals, particularly commercial staff at an intermediate and senior level and Quantity Surveyors at all levels capable of successful client and financial management. Contracts Managers, Project Managers with main contracting experience and competent Site Managers with a consistent background of delivering projects remain in short supply. Clients continue to prefer to employ both commercial and site based staff on a permanent basis, although long term contract positions are still available. As an experienced Construction or Commercial candidate in East Anglia, London or the South you will find your skills in high demand. The region boasts a good range of Contractors, Specialist Building and Construction Companies and Joint Venture organisations with a variety of projects on offer. We are working with a range of clients and have seen a continuing demand during 2007 for qualified candidates, particularly those with a strong commercial ability and a Quantity Surveying background. Clients are willing to pay competitive salaries for the ‘right’ individual but you will need to demonstrate good reasons on why you are looking to move position and where you see your career going in the future. Working with Technical Moves you will find that we can target companies that fit your requirements rather than wasting your time with numerous interviews for positions that don’t fit your original reasons for wanting to move. We offer interview advice if required and will always try and give you background on the type of company you are going to see, what they are like and the work that they are involved with. We offer a completely confidential service, tailored to your job search needs, getting your details considered by key decision makers, often for positions that haven’t even been advertised. For more career advice or to discuss how we could help you get the right position you have been looking for contact Carl Wright in our Construction & Commercial Division on 01223 845333, email carl.wright@technicalmoves.com or see our contact page.
