We have a rare opportunity, for a successful client-side Project Manager to lead a high-profile £35m construction development at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

As the IWM embarks on a bold and ambitious project to develop a campus of training and employment alongside its visitor site at Duxford. We’re looking to appoint a Project Manager with construction experience to deliver a 9,000 sqm collections care centre for plane storage, conservation and training.

Branded IWM Lab, you will manage the project team, through RIBA stages 3 to 6, collaborating with key stakeholders and a commercial developer team to ensure alignment with a wider innovation hub and business park in relation to design, development, programme and coordinating a combined planning application.

As our Project Manager you’ll need a strong track record delivering capital construction projects, with a collaborative approach and ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships.

You will oversee a £35m development from RIBA Stage 3, through planning to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives. Acting as the key liaison between internal teams, consultants, contractors, and external partners, ensuring coordination across all project phases.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven client-side Project Manager experience delivering complex capital construction projects.
  • Stakeholder and client management skills, CDM, design, planning advice and risk mitigation.
  • Knowledge of procurement, contract management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Financial and risk management expertise, project and cost controls and reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, balancing strategic objectives with project delivery.

The role would suit a Project Manager or Project lead who has worked for a consultant, developer design team, architectural practice, design and build construction business or with a mixture of construction and client side experience gained with a local authority, defence or infrastructure business. Experience in cultural, heritage, or large-scale infrastructure projects is desirable.

A rare opportunity for a Project Manager to work at the heart of a high profile development, helping to transform the history and make a real lasting impact on IWM Duxford’s future.
