The power of human experience.

The power of human experience.

We believe recruitment is fundamentally about people, not just CV's, AI or algorithms. "This is why our USP is the power of human experience."

Back in 2005, we founded our business on the fact that recruitment is about people. That hasn't changed but in today's job market, the recruitment landscape is evolving at an unprecedented pace, bringing both innovation and significant challenges to both hiring managers and job seekers. While technology undoubtedly promises efficiency, it often creates doubt between a candidate's true potential and their digital representation. We are heavily invested in the recruitment process and experience first hand how this shift impacts both candidates and clients.

The rise of AI-generated applications

The convenience of Artificial Intelligence in crafting CVs and cover letters is undeniable. Tools like ChatGPT can generate polished, professional-sounding documents in minutes....well, in fact seconds. However, this speed and convenience often comes at the cost of authenticity.

Recent surveys from professional bodies indicate a growing trend: research from ResumeBuilder.com in the US, while not UK specific, highlights that nearly half (48%) of job seekers are now using AI to write parts of their CVs and cover letters. While precise UK figures are still emerging, most recruiters and hiring managers are encountering similar patterns.

This widespread and free use of readily available technology creates a significant headache for hiring managers. While a CV might look impeccable, the "elephant in the room" remains obvious "is it a true reflection of the candidate's unique skills, experience, and crucially, their personality and genuine enthusiasm?" This doubt leads to:

  • Delays in the hiring process: Directors/hiring managers having to spend increasingly more valuable time "fact-checking" applications, cross-referencing information, and attempting to detect genuine skills from AI-generated interpretations. Leading to more time and money invested in qualifying which could be better spent on meaningful candidate engagement. Or worse, they accept the CV's and appoint only for the candidate to fail due to lack of experience. A very costly "miss hire" as the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) highlights, making the right hire and the cost of getting it wrong,

  •  Lack of confidence in credible CV's: The lack of certainty about a candidate's true profile starts to knock confidence in the initial screening process. This hesitation can prolong the hiring process and lead to missed opportunities for securing top talent. Frustrated with the process and snapped up by competitors.

  • A Generic Talent Pool: When AI optimises applications for keywords, it can inadvertently strip away the unique voice and specific achievements that make a candidate stand out. Leading to a talent pool of seemingly similar, yet superficially presented, individuals. What's wrong with that if the skills match I hear you say..... A frequent "job hopper" knows how to play this game. Yet a candidate who could excel is overlooked for poor CV writing as they're not frequently applying for jobs. Or because their actual skills are more suited to the role you need them for. Which usually isn't to write CV's.

Overlooked talent: Quality applications lost in the noise and why your recruitment process should go far beyond a keyword or skills count.

Additionally, skilled and experienced professionals who genuinely represent themselves can be unfairly disadvantaged. In a market flooded with AI-optimised and AI generated CVs, genuinely strong candidates, particularly those from traditional institutions represented by RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), might find their authentic, human-crafted applications overlooked.

These professionals, who have dedicated years to their professional development, risk being lost in a digital translation because their application doesn't perfectly tick an AI-driven box, or worse, is overshadowed by an artificially enhanced one. This is a profound loss for both the individual and the client seeking genuine expertise.
