Staff shortages look set to continue across architecture

Are you looking for Architectural staff for the new year? Contact our team for advice on staff shortages and how we can help.

As we settle in to 2022 and with the mince pies and port of Christmas a fast fading memory many practices are looking at their work ahead and staffing levels.

The past year or so has been a challenge for employers in finding good staff for their vacancies, this has been down to several reasons. Covid has meant that candidates can be less inclined to risk a move and Brexit has also impacted (along with Covid travel restrictions) the number of potential employees coming into the UK to work. Last year, the RIBA’s September Future Trends survey found that 18 per cent of practices are having difficulty finding staff. More than 40 per cent of large and medium practices said they were short-staffed.

Looking ahead to 2022 there doesn't appear to be any let-up in the challenge in finding good staff for your business so it is important to make sure you are doing what you can to retain current employees along with attracting new talent.

As noted in our findings from our salary survey last year, the 3 most important things candidates considered when considering their careers were job security, flexible working and salary.

Contact our Architectural team to discuss your businesses needs and let our experience work for you.
