Health & Safety Manager

Rare opportunity to join a leading research organisation as their Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager, taking responsibility for safety across their entire estates division, including construction project works, building maintenance activities, accommodation services, housing, land management, catering, waste management and a working farm.

You’ll be a qualified safety professional with construction and building maintenance knowledge and an understanding of CDM requirements. Ideally TechIOSH qualified with a NEBOSH Diploma, you will be able to draft and effectively communicate H&S standards. Providing expert safety advise within the construction, environmental and sustainability areas, monitor performance and deliver training.

The role has a wide brief not focused on the full life cycle of any individual project.  A typical day could be drafting a procedure, investigating an incident, advising on permits, events or confined space working, inspecting a construction project or workplace.

Offering hybrid working, typically on site in Cambridge and 1-2 days per week working from home.

You will drive a positive safety culture and be accountable for drafting, developing, maintaining and communicating health and safety codes of practice, guidance and standards. Dealing with consultants, employed staff, external contractors, and service providers.

The role also involves leading and supporting safety and wellbeing projects across the business.

You’ll need experience of developing policy and procedures for legislation compliance and standards and a previous experience working with a large, complex, multi-site organisation.
